The collection includes fliers, catalogs, and other material created by the Africana Studies Program at the College of William and Mary. The collection also contains records concerning the Black Studies Program, from which Africana Studies grew out of.

Honorary Alumna; wife of Hulon Willis, the first African American student to attend the College of William and Mary.

The bulk of the University Archives Oral History Collection consists of transcripts and recordings of oral history interviews conducted as a part of various projects at the College of William and Mary with administrators, faculty, students, and alumni. Includes "Stony the Road We Trod," an independent study project conducted by College of William & Mary student Jenay Jackson (class of 2005) in 2005. This oral history project was intended to serve as the initial part of an ongoing project to document African American history at the College of William & Mary.

The records of the Department of Theatre, Speech, and Dance at the College of William & Mary holds material from the early 20th century to the present. The Grassroots Theatre Oral History Project includes story circles with retired school teachers, church historians, the African-American community, and others.
