Import citations from databases

ORCID's Search & Link wizards allow you to import your research from publications in databases such as Crossref and Scopus. You can find a full list of supported databases on the ORCID website. Watch the video below to learn how to import your data!

Manually Add Works

You can manually add works to your ORCID profile. You may want to do this for presentations or other content not available in databases. ORCID supports a wide array of works beyond publications like conference papers, presentations, intellectual property, and more. Check out the list of supported Work Types for additional information.

To add a work manually:

  1. Login to orcid.org, and scroll down to the bottom of your record where you will see the "Works" section.
  2. To add a work, click the link for "Add", and then select "Add manually" from the dropdown.

  3. Fill in as much of the information about the work that you have. A title and type of work are required, but you can also provide publication information, citations, unique identifiers like DOIs or an ISBN, etc.
  4. The last option for your work is the Visibility setting. You can choose whether this specific work can be seen by everyone, only trusted parties, or only you.
  5. Click the "Save changes" button to save. Repeat for additional works.
