This guide provides access to resources, research and programs within the US, Virginia and at W&M on sustainability and related topics including climate change, recycling, renewable energy, and environmental quality.

Navigating this Guide

This guide has been organized around the focus areas of sustainability. Each page includes links to organizations and resources to learn more about the area as well as access research and information. These areas include:

  • Climate Change: A list of US and International programs focused on climate change.
  • Environmental Quality: Locate data and information on air and water quality in the United States.
  • Food and Agriculture: A list of websites focused on sustainable agriculture, organic foods, and food movements.

Sustainability at William & Mary

William and Mary's Committee on Sustainability is dedicated to:

  •  Promoting a culture of sustainability through the College community by engaging the powerful education, research and service traditions of the College.
  • Promoting sustainable practices that recognize the need to manage human interactions with ecosystems to minimize impacts of use, conserve the   regenerative capacity of the natural environment, and promote its ecological integrity.
  • Serving as a faithful steward of the Student Green Fee through prudent management of those fees to maximize their impact on sustainability.
  • Building an operational model that ensures the long-term future of the College's commitment to sustainability.
  • Implementing and promoting the President's Policy on Sustainability through full engagement of faculty, students and staff.
