A big thank you to Steve Runge at Boston College for sharing this virtual book display design.
There's ongoing discussion about the name "Hispanic Heritage Month" and whether it fully represents the rich diversity of people and cultures it aims to celebrate - including debates over whether to use Latino, Latinx or Latine. While no single term can capture every identity, we use "Latine" here to create an inclusive and welcoming space for everyone in our community who come from those various identities. Every person has the right to identify in the way that feels most authentic to them, and regardless of the term you prefer, you are welcome and celebrated at W&M Libraries. The sentiment of Hispanic Heritage Month is to celebrate the culture, contributions, struggles, and triumphs of millions of Latine people living in the United States who embody the American experience. The titles in this collection represent just a small snapshot of important works by Latine authors, and we hope they spark conversation and reflection. Enjoy!
