- What records would have been left behind?
- Who created them, and why?
- What part of the story are they leaving out?
- Example: These college rules give them impress that students in the grammar school either spent their whole day in study or in vice.
- What aspects of their life does this not cover?
- What other information would we need to better understand their experiences?
- what they ate, what they read, what shops exist in town at the time, enrollment demographics, what else was happening at the time, what they were wearing
