There are Eight searches your team has to complete.

After you finish each, call over the librarian. If your answer is correct, I'll show you the next question. First team to win gets a prize!

1) Find a Book!

Using our library catalog, find a book about the german children during world war II

  • Hints:
    • Use the main library catalog
    • Limit to books
    • use Quotation Marks and AND  [remember to capitalize AND OR NOT]
    • There is only 1 book in the collection specifically about this

2) Find an academic article!

Using the European History subject database, find an article about Memoirs written by Nazis  
The article needs to be peer reviewed.

  • Hints:
    • Use the database for European history articles, listed on this guide.
    • use quotation marks and AND searching
    • Limited to peer review.
    • There are only ~3 articles you might find that fit this criteria.

3) Find a Primary Source in the Catalog

Use the main library catalog to find a memoir written by a German during or about WW2

  • Hints
    • Use quotation makes & AND
    • limit by Books
    • must be written by a German, not American
    • there are several options in the catalog

4) Find the reference entry

Find the reference entry feature in the Catalog, find a reference entry on women in Germany in world war II

  • HINTS
    • Be sure to use quotation marks and AND
    • Use the reference entry option after your initial search
    • Use the * at the end of German* for Germany and German

 

5) Find a Book Chapter!

Using the Library Catalog, find a chapter about German women in world war II

  • Hints
    • Use Boolean searching (quotation marks and AND)
    • Use the *
    • Use the Chapter filter
    • Remember that books titles don't always reflect the content of all the chapters.
    • There are multiple possible answers to this question.

6) Identify the University Digital Archivist

7) Find a book review

Using the library catalog's reviews feature, find a book review for a book about German women in world war II
