Software installed on the computers in the Swem Makerspace

Computers

For your convenience, there are two computers available for use in the Swem Makerspace. The computers have both licensed and non-licensed software for use with the equipment that is available to current W&M students, staff and faulty. Most of the software is available for you to download and use on your own computer.

3D Printing

There are 14 3D printers available for use in the makerspace. We carry models from Ultimaker, MakerBot and Airwolf. The most up-to-date versions for use with these printers is installed on the makerspace computers. The 3d printing software is all unlicensed, so you can download these on your personal computer or laptop.

Vinyl Cutting

Make decals, stickers to prepare for your button making session! Silhouette Studio can be downloaded on your laptop or personal computer.

Stitching

Use our stitching machines to create, modify and make. SewArt can be used to turn digital images into an embroidered creation; SewArt is available for use on the two computers in the Swem Makerspace.

Button Making

Create your own pinback button! There are blank templates for our button maker available online. Pick up your button-making kit from the Circulation desk after you have booked the machine. 

Printers are NOT available for use in the Swem Makerspace.

3D Scanning

Use one of our three 3D scanners to create laser-scans of a 3D object that can be reproduced on a 3D printer. There is one scanner available in the Swem Makerspace and two that circulate.
