Although you may use many works without the permission of the author, you still need to cite your sources and/or credit the author. Check out this short video on Lynda.com on how to cite the images you use. (Log in using your W&M credentials.)

Images from sources on this page are available for your use on the open web. When you use these open access images, you do not need to restrict access to your class or academic environment. Always read and comply with the use restrictions for specific image sources. Always cite images someone else created.

Images should not be sold or used in commercial products or for commercial purposes.

Websites with (at least some) Openly-Licensed Images

These sites offer at least some images for free general use. These sites also contain advertising and/or offer images for sale.  Different images from the same site may have different use restrictions, so be sure to understand the conditions associated with each image.
