I.  Reference books about various countries/regions and cultures in the Library Catalog.

Statesman's Yearbook  (Ref JA51 .S7 and newest edition available online -- search the library's CATALOG)

Political Handbook of the World  (Ref JF37 .P6 and newest edition available online -- search the library's CATALOG)

Europa World (newest edition available online -- search the library's CATALOG)

Europa World Year Book (Ref JN1 .E85)  (newer, online edition called Europa World)

Countries of the World and Their Leaders (Ref G122 .C67 and newest edition available online -- search the library's CATALOG)

Nations of the World:  A Political, Economic & Business Handbook (Ref HC10 .N36)

Worldmark Chronology of the Nations  (Ref G133 .W93 1999 and newest edition available online -- search the library's CATALOG)

Worldmark Encyclopedia of Cultures and Daily Life (newest edition available online -- search the library's CATALOG)

 

Also, look for reference books on world cultures in the Ref GN call number area.

Heads of State and Government  (Ref JF37 .D3 2000)

The Military Balance (journal), published by the Institute for Strategic Studies. (Find in the library's CATALOG.)
   
Provides military/defense information and data for countries, including troop strength, arsenals, etc.

IHS Jane's Defence Weekly (journal), published by IHS Global Ltd.   (Find in the library's CATALOG.)
     A weekly publication that covers current military and defense news and data.

World Factbook (CIA)

OECD Factbook (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development)

Freedom House's reports on:  Freedom in the World, Countries at the Crossroads (spread of democracy), Nations in Transition, Freedom of the Press.

Chiefs of State and Cabinet Officers of Foreign Governments (produced by the CIA): includes pdfs of earlier years from 2001+     [Subject heading = Heads of state > Registers.]
