W&M Libraries Ask A Librarian Internship

About our intership program

W&M Libraries Ask A Librarian Paid Internship (remote, hybrid, or in person)

Each year, William & Mary Libraries accepts applications for our Ask A Librarian Internship.  This 10-hour/week internship can be remote, in-person, or hybrid and provides current library school students with hands-on experience in academic librarianship.  Interns will receive training and support from a librarian supervisor in order to assist users through the Ask A Librarian chat reference service and through individual consultations for approximately 6 hours/week.  Additionally, the intern will complete another project related to reference and instruction, assigned based on interest and availability.

The Ask A Librarian Internship Program seeks to provide meaningful working experiences that relate to the goals and interests of the intern. BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Library & Information Science students and recent graduates are highly encouraged to apply. We are also interested in providing this experience to those who are interested in academic librarianship but have not yet had the opportunity to gain such experience.

This position is for the fall semester, with the possibility to extend. The call for applications is released each summer.
