Need more help?

If you're having any trouble or have any questions, there are a number of ways you can get help from us!

  • Got a quick question or need help getting started at any time? Use our live chat box on the library website at any time! Outside of 9-5 you'll get a non-W&M librarian but they can often help you get started or refer you to one of us!
  • In the library already or need help between 9-5? Come up to the desk and ask a question or send us an email
  • Need in-depth help for a specific project or class or want to talk to someone in more detail about your project and want to schedule a time to talk? You can make a research appointment with myself or any research librarian in person or via Zoom (usually 9-5).

What happens when you make an appointment with me?

Need more in-depth help and want to sit down with me to figure out where to get started, find resources, learn how to use resources like Zotero or specialized databases, and more? Make a research appointment!

When you make an appointment with me through the scheduler (I schedule in 30 min blocks with a 15 min buffer in case we go long), I'll usually:

  • Email you to see if you want to meet in person in my office in Swem 130, on Zoom or by phone if you haven't already told me
  • Ask you what you want to meet about (topic, resources you may have searched, or if you just want to brainstorm, etc) - this helps me prepare but I can also see what I can find in the moment
  • Often I'll start a consultation sheet that you can refer back to for resources and keywords and send it to you at the end of our appointment (note: not all librarians do this since we all have our own ways of working)

24/7 Help

Need help at 3 AM? We now have 24/7 chat help! Just use the Research Live Chat on the library website, especially for quick questions or to get started. If you need more in-depth help, you can email us or make an appointment during regular hours.
