Finding books in the Catalog

The William & Mary Libraries has an outstanding collection of books & ebooks.  The main library doesn't look huge from the outside, but between our compact shelving, multiple branch libraries, storage facilities, and large ebook collection, you'll find our holdings most impressive!

To find books on your topic, start in the library catalog.

Between with a search for "French Revolution" AND [your topic].

Examples:

"French Revolution" AND religion

"French Revolution" AND monarch*

"French Revolution" AND Catholic*

"French Revolution" AND Marat

But wait!

Earlier we said librarians don't call the French Revolution the "French Revolution."

They call it:

France -- History -- Revolution, 1789-1799

Exactly right!

Try the same searches above, but with France -- History -- Revolution, 1789-1799 instead of French Revolution.

Reminder

Not all books within the W&M Libraries are held at Swem.

Many are in the annex, Law Library, Education Library, or the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Rockefeller) Library.

You can order these, too, and pick them up right here at Swem through the library catalog.
