Find Books & Documents using the Library Catalog

Library Catalog search tips:

• Combine your topic's concepts in your topic with AND:    
                 globalization AND environment AND China
   
• Combine synonyms for the same concepts with OR:  
          globalization AND (environment OR pollution OR toxins) AND (China OR Asia)
   
• Use quotation marks around phrases:  "human rights"

Searching the Library Catalog: 

Start at Swem Library's home page (libraries.wm.edu).

• In the Catalog box, click Advanced Search.

• Type in keywords:
  
      Example searches:

  • globalization AND "human rights"

  • globalization AND "moral and ethical aspects"

  • globalization AND "political aspects"

  • globalization AND education

  • globalization AND (economy OR capitalism)

  • 'non-governmental organizations' AND environment
     

• Click Search.

• On the results screen, limit to Books. 

• For highly relevant books, click the Details button to learn new or better subject headings to use as new search terms.

• For highly relevant titles, check for which library owns it, where it's located, its call number, its format (print book, e-book, government document, film, etc.).
